The true birth of 'modern automobile can be considered as happened in 1901 with the presentation at the Paris Salon of what for many is considered the first modern car design: the "Mercedes 1901" built by KF Benz . This car had a four-cylinder engine of 35 horse power, the chassis was made of thick iron spars, which provide strength and stability far greater than hitherto in use.
